But we also made sure to provide them with the ability to choose between products for a wide range of environments, events and settings. In addition to the ability to choose between professional and personal solutions, wireless and wired systems, FM and IR technologies, … Translators USA clients can thus also choose between stationary and portable transmitters.

Stationary Transmitters

Like their name suggests, stationary transmitters are not intended to be moved around which, however, doesn't mean they can't be moved once installed. On the contrary, they are very lightweight and can be moved from one place to another without much effort. But they must be used on-site. As opposed to portable transmitters which are powered by batteries, stationary transmitters are plugged into an outlet. In comparison to battery-powered transmitters, the stationary ones are usually more powerful and provide better coverage of larger areas. As a result, they are most often used in meeting rooms, conference halls, stadiums and similar venues.

Portable Transmitters

As mentioned earlier, portable transmitters are powered by batteries which allows the interpreter and the audience to move around. They are designed to be compact and lightweight, making them ideal for factory tours and similar events involving movement. Portable transmitters are just as reliable as their stationary counterparts and provide high quality transmission of the interpreter's voice as well. But they usually have a smaller coverage range. As much as price is concerned, there isn't much difference between stationary and portable transmitters.

Which Transmitter is Best for You? Stationary or Portable?

Whether to choose stationary or portable transmitter above all depends on the intended use. Theoretically, portable transmitters can be used for just about any event and in any setting. But since their coverage is up to 10 times smaller than that of stationary transmitters and since they are generally less powerful, it is recommended to use the stationary ones for larger venues. The use of portable transmitters is typically limited to events requiring movement of the interpreter and smaller settings where you can't or don't want the transmitter to be installed.
