Naturalization Papers Translation

Translators USA linguistic experts who are specialized in personal documents translation are aware of the importance of accuracy yet fast turnaround, especially when it comes to documents such as naturalization papers. All documents that are to be submitted to the US government agencies including the USCIS must be translated if not written in English language. But they also must be certified. If they are not, naturalization may be delayed or even denied.

What Documents You Need to Submit for Naturalization Application?

If you are not a US citizen but would like to become one, you may be eligible for the US citizenship through naturalization. But even if you meet all the requirements, you must apply for naturalization. Normally, you must also submit some documents – which ones varies from case to case. Since failing to submit any of the documents required automatically makes your application incomplete and subsequently delays the naturalization process, it is of utmost importance to make sure that nothing is missing. To do that, visit the USCIS official website and look for Document Checklist. The latter will also help you determine when you can send copies and when originals need to be submitted.

Documents Written in Other than English Must be Translated

As mentioned earlier, all documents submitted to the USCIS (or any other US government agency) must be translated into English if they are written in other language. However, it is crucial for the translation to be certified – translated by a certified translator and include a statement of the translator that they are competent to translate and that translation is accurate. If translated documents are not certified, they will be rejected no matter if the translations are accurate or not. The application for naturalization usually isn't denied if the applicant fails to submit all the required documents or/and certified translations if not already in English. However, it extends the time of the naturalization process which on average lasts about 6 months.

In addition to having the documents required for your naturalization application translated by a certified translator, you are also recommended to make copies of everything submitted to the USCIS in order to avoid any potential misunderstandings. Also, keep in mind that you may be asked to bring the same or additional documents (usually the originals) to the interview.
